Apply Zero Trust to DoD Operational Technology Networks

Apply Zero Trust to DoD Operational Technology Networks

The DoD Zero Trust Strategy (ZTS) defines Zero Trust as an “evolving set of cybersecurity paradigms that move defenses from static, network-based perimeters to focus on users, assets, and resources." The DoD Zero Trust Reference Architecture highlights that the classic perimeter or defense-in-depth strategies used in the past are no longer sufficient to defend against well-resourced adversaries and insider threats. Highly coordinated efforts by hostile nation-states are conducting coordinated attacks on OT networks worldwide, with recent CISA advisories on the Volt Typhoon cyber group serving as an example of the types of attacks that DoD OT networks face daily.

BlastWave has teamed up with Dragos to present the views of the OT Zero Trust Alliance (OTZTA) on implementing a reference architecture for the OT environments that support the DoD's warfighting efforts. The DoD's ability to carry out its mission could be gravely impacted if the critical infrastructure supporting the mission-critical priorities at all levels of the DoD was impaired. Losing power, water, environmental control, or logistics supply chains would have a devastating impact on the ability of warfighters to execute their missions.

Attend our webinar to learn more about how DoD’s OT networks require a slightly different Zero Trust architecture than IT networks.
